Abstract

Aim. We analyzed diversity of alleles at storage protein loci in a sample of new Myronivka winter common wheat varieties and characterized the population structure of groups of Myronivka varieties of different breeding periods. Methods. Acid polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and SDS-electrophoresis of seed proteins were performed to identify alleles at gliadin and high molecular weight glutenin subunit loci. Allele diversity in groups of Myronivka varieties of different breeding periods was analyzed. Results. Alleles at the Gli-A1, Gli-B1, Gli-D1, Gli-A3, Glu-A1, Glu-B1 and Glu-D1 loci were identified, and their frequencies in samples of varieties of different breeding periods were determined. A significant increase in the frequency of the Gli-A1x(9) allele and a decrease in the frequency of the Gli-A1f allele were noted. In some varieties, we identified alleles that had not previously been found among Myronivka varieties. The stability of the population structure of Myronivka varieties with respect to storage protein loci in different breeding periods was confirmed. Conclusions. Fixation of the main set of predominant alleles at the storage protein loci in groups of Myronivka winter wheat varieties of different breeding periods is reflected in the stability of their population structure.
